The trained dancer has the ability to create some of the most mesmerising shapes and movements through the technical expansion of their limbs. From the extension of their leg travelling to a beautifully curved foot or to the bow of their back in vertical arabesque. The practice of movement over so many years affects our mind, we react to music differently for we are trained with a technique that aims to visually please the observer but there is the desire to express ourself with our entire body. As a dancer I have always wanted to merge my two passions of art and dance resulting a continuous series of ‘Dancing in the Studio’.

In a place of comfort, my art studio, I explore the expression of movement and what it means to be a trained dancer in the art industry. I explore how different areas of being in the studio pushed me to capture movement, pushing my body to limits in ways I haven’t before and watching other dancers do the same when placed in this environment. The setting of the art studio led to the desire of permanently capturing this movement and expression through paint and film and photography.
