My work focuses on looking at the impact of the ‘Windrush generation’, engaging with the impact this had on the cultural landscapes of Britain. I have a particular interest in the domestic archive, using elements of domesticity in order to speak to wider issues of migration, family, femininity, loss and the personal impacts of colonialism. The home therefore becomes the subject and object of my work.

Taking my own family history, throughout my work I am exploring and celebrating the impact of migration on urban life, turning specifically to historical and autobiographical memory, using voice, archives, narration, and text to create work which attempts to understand and celebrate those who have come before us. In using the language of domesticity to explore the impact of colonialism, my body of work hopes to personalise issues of colonialism and by placing images of my own family members alongside historical images relating to the diaspora I am grounding my work in the personal.
