Digital technologies are useless. In the event of irreparable damage to our environment and infrastructures, communications through analogue devices will prevail and our over-reliance on modern information technologies will become a weakness.
This work emulates a none too foreign future in which archaic and obsolete methods of telecommunication will become a necessity in the search for fellow survivors. All media in the installation has been produced using analogue and homemade devices.
Isolated along the British coastline, this work calls to the vast unknown, signalling out to sea in both the hope and the fear of a response. The only indication of life is the abstract and eerily rhythmic shipping forecast, broadcasting last thing at night, it is the last bastion of hope that there is indeed somebody else out there.
